Many great roles are never advertised. They're filled through people who already know each other, and tech meetups are one of the easiest places to build that network.
Pick the right events
- Language and framework user groups for deep technical talks and like-minded people.
- Community conferences run by and for practitioners, such as DevOpsDays-style events and BSides security conferences.
- Workshops and hack days for learning something new by building it.
- Industry events in your sector, from fintech to robotics, to meet the people who hire.
Get more from every event
- Set a small goal, such as two good conversations.
- Ask people what they're working on. Most engineers are happy to talk about it.
- Follow up within a day or two with a short, specific message.
Give a talk
You don't need to be the world's leading expert. A short talk about a problem you solved, and what you learned, is exactly what meetup audiences enjoy. It's also one of the best things you can add to your CV.
Events from OpenSourced
We organise and support events, seminars and workshops that bring tech professionals together across the UK. Ask to be invited to the next one.
